Coach Robin Pingeton believes she has several viable alternatives for Illinois State's fifth starter alongside mainstays Maggie Krick, Ashleen Bracey, Nicolle Lewis and Amanda Clifton. That choice – for the first time this season – was sophomore Katie Broadway in Thursday's victory at Evansville and will be again Saturday in a 4:30 p.m. Missouri Valley Conference game against Southern Illinois at SIU Arena in Carbondale. The Redbirds (19-5 overall) are 12-1 atop the Valley and are riding a 12-game win

Those words echoed throughout Redbird Arena Saturday afternoon as the ISU women's basketball team hammered Indiana State, 90-61 for its biggest win of the season. The senior forward blitzed five three-pointers to finish with 19 points on the night. "We were gellin' today," Bracey said. "[In past games] we kind of get caught playing the other team's pace, but today we really got to run it and that's when we're at our best, so I think it was a lot of fun for everybody."

Fast and furious play with senior dominating leadership helped the ISU women's basketball team notch a seven-game winning streak, defeating Northern Iowa 70-64 in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Thursday night. "It was definitely one of those games where UNI was good at all of their positions," senior Nicolle Lewis said on WJBC after the game. "It was really a dog fight, the game was choppy at times and they had us on our heels."

Contrary to popular belief, there were actually six members of the Jackson 5. All had talent, but only five could be in the limelight. Similar to the band of brothers, there is a Jackson left out of the starting line up for the ISU women's basketball team.

My approach towards the game has really changed a lot   -Shala Jackson

Nicolle Lewis' fall-away bank shot to force overtime sent Illinois State into a brief but boisterous celebration. ISU's inability to convert clutch shots before or after Lewis' heroics left DePaul celebrating a dramatic 63-61 overtime victory Monday before a Redbird Arena crowd of 2,718. The Redbirds shot 33 percent overall and missed all six of their overtime attempts while dropping to 6-4.
